The onset of summer commands its own visual vocabulary. Our Ontario landscape provides a palette and iconography that reaffirms afternoons on the dock and summons new memories of spruce, sun, fish and water. In her new series Trout on the Dock, Ila Kellermann celebrates the best of the season. Her petroglyph influences anchor her compositions while layers of paint and incised lines compel us to join in the postcard we call summer. Ila was selected as a juried artiist with her work being displayed in the window fronts of a variety of retailers in downtown Barrie.

Ila’s painting “Spirit” continues to tour Latvia from its home gallery in Valmiera. It will be exhibited in Riga, Latvia from August 6th - September 6th, 2009 and then begins its international venue in Lithuania. 

Ila will be having a solo show at the Flesherton Art Gallery beginning Saturday March 28th - May 9th, 2009. Curator is Mr. David Turner.

Ila continues her support of community initiatives in the MacLaren Art Centre’s Benefactor Art Exchange Program. She donated another painting to this program in 2010.
